AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHATTANOOGA CITY CODE, PART II, SECTION 25-34, RELATIVE TO THE PROHIBITION OF SMOKING IN CERTAIN PUBLIC BUILDINGS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE: SECTION 1. That Section 25-34 of the Chattanooga City Code, Part II, be and is hereby amended by deleting said Section in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following: Sec. 25-34. Prohibition of Smoking in Public Buildings. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to smoke tobacco or use tobacco or tobacco products in any form in the following public buildings: (1) City Hall; (2) City Hall Annex; and (3) Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority Passenger Terminal Facility (b) Every owner or person in charge of a public place where smoking is prohibited shall post one or more signs in the area heretofore described which reads, "Smoking Prohibited by City Ordinance" in letters at least one inch in height. Such signs shall be prominently displayed and located so as to be clearly visible to the public. (c) The owner or person in charge of any public place where a specific area or areas are designated as areas where smoking is permitted shall post one or more signs which read: "Smoking Permitted In This Area." (d) Anyone found guilty of violating this Section shall be fined not less than ten dollars ($10.00) nor more than fifty dollars ($50.00). SECTION 2. That this Ordinance shall take effect two (2) weeks from and after its passage, as provided by law.
